Netflix series
Wednesday

Wednesday is a 2022 American television series created by Alfred Grough and Miles Millar – authors of Smallville – and inspired by the characters of the Addams Family. Of mystery and fantasy genre, the series also sees the participation of Tim Burton both as director – for the first four episodes out of the eight total – and as executive producer. In the main cast we find Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), Catherine Zeta Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmàn (Gomez Addams), Christina Ricci (Marilyn Thornill/Laurel Gates), Victor Dorobantu (Mano), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Riki Lindhome (Dr. Valerie Kinbot), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Percy Hynes White (Xavier) and Gwendoline Christie (Larissa Weems).
Peaky Blinders

Impossible not to mention, among the must-see TV series, Peaky Blinders: the series on the bloodthirsty English gang of the early 1900s, who wears blades on their hats, has made history and rightfully belongs to the gotha of the most beautiful productions ever. Among other things Tommy Shelby and co. are about to return: among the most awaited TV series to watch in 2022, the sixth season is scheduled for June 10, in Italy, on Netflix. The serial, among others, brought fortune and notoriety to actors such as Paul Anderson and Joe Cole.
Bridgerton
Not only ugly thugs and murderers: on Netflix there is also room for feelings, whether they are pure or the result of betrayals and intrigues at court. We can therefore define Bridgerton as one of the most successful romantic Netflix TV series. It is a costume production, set between 1811 and 1820, the Age of the English Regency, and follows the epic story of some powerful and rich English families also from a passionate point of view.
Stranger Things
Stranger Things was also born as a Netflix TV series for kids, telling the story of a group of kids from the 80s, dealing with a series of supernatural events, following the disappearance of Will Byers. The context in which the story is immersed, however, manages to attract much more those who were teenagers in the fantastic eighties, activating a magical nostalgia operation. On Netflix the series has become a real cult.
Best Netflix series
Glow

At this point many might say Ozark, but we say Glow : The series about women’s wrestling in the 80s. Everything is refined and nostalgic, to make Stranger Things envious, plus it’s really fun. Very good Alison Brie, already present in Mad Men, in the role of an actress in difficulty who finds her bizarre way of affirmation in the world of wrestling for girls, between eccentric personalities and B-Movie directors.
The crown

What to watch on Netflix absolutely? There is no doubt, The crown. Artfully sketched characters, both from the point of view of the script and the physical and attitudinal resemblance, and details taken care of in every aspect make The crown one of Netflix’s best successes. The story is that of Queen Elizabeth, from about 1940 to the present day and, no, this is not a celebratory series: intrigues and opportunisms of court life all come to the surface. Olivia Colman unsurpassed.
The Dragon Prince season 4
The Dragon Prince has received rave reviews, boasting a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been compared to the likes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Hence, anticipation is high for the show’s fourth season to debut in November of 2022. Meanwhile, The Dragon Prince season 4 features a 2-year time jump. During this timeskip, Ezran becomes King of Katolis, while Callum becomes the king’s High Mage. However, Callum’s story will go a little deeper than his new appointment to the kingdom.
Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities
Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (2022) is the long-awaited series curated by the director of Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water, whose name has always been one of the powerful “brands” of the horror sector. In this case, however, del Toro didn’t direct any of the eight medium-length features that make up Netflix’s anthology, which debuted the week before Halloween Tuesday through Friday, in a strategy never before seen on the platform.
In the manner of a Hitchcock in “ Alfred Hitchcock Presents “, but without his black and contagious humor – or, better, in the manner of a Rod Serling in “ Mystery in the Tunnel ” – Guillermo del Toro has chosen eight stories for the first season of this series of his creation, introducing us in each episode to the antique piece of furniture of the title, from which he extracts an object linked to the story he is about to tell us.
Netflix series to watch
The Sandman

It was produced and distributed by Netflix. but, in reality, the series The Sandman , the comic saga that Neil Gaiman on the vicissitudes of Morpheus, the God of Dreams is the epilogue of a purpose that had been in the air for at least thirty years without having had the chance to materialize. The predictable reason is the apparent unfilmability of the material, too visionary, too thoughtful for a medium other than printed paper. But times, audiences, change and Netflix, not new to maneuvers of this type, launches into this risky rescue operation.
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

It is the cinematography (by Jason McCormick and John T. Connor) based on gloom, claustrophobic environments and obsessive yellow-ochre dominants that make the 10 episodes of Monster: the story of Jeffrey Dahmer It is yet another positive test of writer for Ryan Murphy (in the series, it is known, the directors count for little and are interchangeable between one episode and another). The series plays a lot on flashbacks: they range from Jeff’s childhood to his father.
The Witcher: Blood Origin
Prequel to The Witcher, available from April 25, 2022 on Netflix, The Witcher: Blood Origin is a 4-episode miniseries, which explains the birth of one of the most fascinating figures in fantasy. If we owe the notoriety of the “monster hunter” to Henry Cavill – shortly replaced by Liam Hemsworth – the new interpreters also prove to be convincing, certainly less known, but equally suitable. Created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissricha, The Witcher: Blood Origin takes up all the suggestions of the original, always anchoring itself in the series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The final effect is good, but not exceptional, proving to be a useful and interesting, but perhaps not memorable addition.
Dead to Me
Dead to Me exploits in an atypical way the idea of a female friendship born in a period of crisis to tell with a sarcastic and light-hearted approach the reaction to dramatic events such as the death of one’s husband or a mistake with tragic consequences, a narrative device that works without particular hitches during the ten episodes that make up the first season of the Netflix television series. The team of authors led by expert Liz Feldmanin fact, finds a good balance between the different atmospheres that distinguish the story of Jen and Judy, passing from the inability to overcome the mourning to the desire to start a new chapter of one’s life, passing through anger, guilt and the many moments of weaknesses that mark the path to serenity. The structure of the story, initially so anchored to reality with neighbors who are concerned resulting almost intrusive with their “tested” recipes and the need to share one’s emotions without feeling judged or misunderstood, slips into the surreal in several moments due to the story of Judy, but the interpreters make the story overcome even the most fragile passages thanks to their experience and skill.
From Scratch
Despite the many problems that life throws their way, Amy and Lino manage to make each other stronger, living their love with transport and conviction, but being unable to do anything against the fate that viewers discover in the first minutes of the miniseries. Over the course of the eight episodes we thus witness the encounter between two apparently different worlds, but in reality with more than one point in common, without however hesitating to outline in broad terms the characteristics of two families and two nations. While on the one hand there is the determined Hershel who, after the divorce, married Maxine (Judith Scott), and does not look favorably on Amy’s choices despite the great love he feels for his daughter, on the other there is is Lino’s father, Giacomo (Paride Benassai), who cut ties with his son after his choice to move away from tradition and not take care of the family estate pursuing the dream of becoming a chef and marrying an American, not listening in no way to the desperate requests of his wife Filomena (Roberta Rigano) for a rapprochement.

Heartbreak High

Heartbreak High, 2022. created by : Hannah Carroll Chapman,Ben Gannon, Michael Jenkins. Cast: Ayesha Madon, James Majoos, Chloe Hayden. Genre : Comedy. Duration : 50 minutes/8 episodes. Where have we seen it : premiered on Netflix, in original language. Amerie is marginalized by her schoolmates after drawing a “sentimental map” of their relationships. First Kill
First Kill, concretely, is a matter of first times. It tells of a first love, a first date, a first kiss and so on. However, if the protagonists are an original vampire and a monster hunter, things get complicated and not a little and it takes a moment to get to the first kill, the first blood and the first armed clashes. The new Netflix phenomenon would certainly have wanted to be a new point of reference for the latest generation of teenagers, orphans of a vampire and unnatural love story for quite some time; however, try as he might, he doesn’t leave an imprint strong enough to inherit the legacy of The Vampire Diaries or Twilight.
The Girl in the Mirror
Alma is a high school student in a small Spanish town. At the end of a trip to a remote cabin in the mountains, the boys’ bus ends up immersed in a thick fog and falls into the void. Few survive. Among these is Alma, who however, upon awakening, has a flashy eye patch and no longer remembers anything from her past. Her friend Tom also survived the crash, but their future will never be the same for both of them.
The Lincoln Lawyer
Displaced from first place on the podium only by the Stranger things phenomenon, another series on Netflix has garnered significant audience success. It is taken from Avvocato di Difesa, a lazy and listless Italian translation (already from the original novel from which it is taken, actually) of The Lincoln Lawyer, a new judicial show by David E. Kelley, the same author of two successes such as Boston legal and The Practices.

Inventing Anna

Anna is the typical case of a real character who seems to have been born for the cinema. And for the scam. Charming, mysterious, cold and manipulative, the young girl emerges from the series as a sort of heroine of our century, who came from nowhere to build herself what will later turn out to be a house of cards. In this, the parable of Anna Delvey/Sorokin could recall that of Fitzgerald’s Jay Gatsby . But in real life, and especially in recent, very recent history. This historical proximity is what makes the miniseries so appealing to the public, who will inevitably find themselves involved in Anna’s world, halfway between the virtual and the real. “ This story is entirely true. Except the completely made up parts” it is in fact the phrase that, thanks to ingenious inventions, is placed right inside the sets of the series, opens each episode.
Shadow and Bone

“ Shadow and Bone ” tells the story of Alina Starkov, an orphan from Keramzin. Alina grew up in an orphanage together with her friend Di lei Mal Di lei. From an early age, the boys are deeply connected, accomplices and willing to do anything not to separate. Only the discovery of the power hidden in Alina divides the two young people. Alina is “the Evocaluce” so desired by the legends, the one who will free Ravka from the Fault, a gigantic area of shadows and death that divides Ravka into East and West.
Snowpiercer
In the not too distant future, man-made climate change has totally disrupted nature. The world is now covered in ice and snow with temperatures even below -170° C. To try to solve the problem of global warming, man has hit the earth’s core to cool it, but this has only created further problems. The few surviving humans are all traveling on a train made up of 1001 carriages driven by an “eternal locomotive”; the Snowpiercer created by Mr. Wilford. The train is constantly moving to ensure heating and livelihoods, but even here there is a strong division of society into classes according to wealth. The first class is of the elite, the richest; the second is for masterminds and the third class is for workers, laborers, maintainers, security guards. Finally, the last carriages of the train are reserved for the fund. The bottom is where the last ones have been relegated, almost left to themselves. There is the Will it be possible to find a balance?
Emily in Paris
Emily in Paris is a socialite tale of designer clothes, new loves on every street corner, and a dream jobthat everyone would like to have but that almost no one can achieve, if not after hard sacrifice and years of experience in the sector. And it is precisely here that the underlying problem of the series emerges with impressive lucidity: the protagonist Lily Collins is offered everything on a silver platter, in a way that is as unusual as it is strongly distant from the reality that ordinary people live on a daily basis. Scaling the heights of success in the field of communication has never seemed easier and even becoming an influencer seems like a walk on flat and even ground. It is enough to post a photo of the splendid Paris to become new queens of Instagram and reach the coveted millions of followers, surpassing those who, with dedication and a little obsession.
Lost in Space
The Earth has become an unlivable place. The resources have run out. Expectations for the future are getting thinner every year and pollution has reached a level that forces people to go out with gas masks. As war spreads, governments decide that the only salvation for mankind is to flee to new territories. Alpha Centauri is the promised land in which to rebuild the future, a green world where select groups of colonizers will be privileged to live.
Best Netflix series of all time
Vikings: Valhalla

As we anticipated, the story opens with a lookout: King Ethelred II of England ( Bosco Hogan ), massacres all the Vikings who had settled on its coasts, including some nobles who were part of his royal guard. Back home, the most important Viking nobles meet in Kattegat to organize their bloody revenge: among the hundreds of bloodthirsty warriors we find Harald Sigurdsson ( Leo Suter ), aspirant to the throne of Norway, King Canute the Great ( Bradley Freegard ) who brought them together and guides them, and a small group of young Greenlanders, arrived for different reasons than those of the others. Leif Erikson ( Sam Corlett), son of Erik the Red, has crossed the stormy sea with his companions to avenge an affront suffered by his sister Freydís Eiríksdóttir ( Frida Gustavsson ), raped by a Christian Viking who carved a huge cross on her back. The culprit is soon found, but his position of power in the huge army that is being created – he is the right hand of Olaf Haraldsson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), Harald’s half brother – makes it very difficult to reach and kill him. In all of this, Harald is struck by Leif’s combat and navigational skills and by the beauty of Freydis, and is immediately attracted to the strange group of Greenlanders, who know nothing of the new dynamics that have taken place among the Viking people.
Echoes

The story of Echoes follows the story of Gina and Leni, identical twins with a special bond. The first of her lives in Los Angeles with her psychotherapist husband, she has a splendid home and a beautiful career. Instead, Leni remained in her native Mount Echo to work on the family ranch with her husband Jack and daughter Mathilda. Two different lives, perhaps even at the antipodes, which seem to reflect dissimilar characters and ambitions in two identical sisters, one more devoted to career success and personal empowerment, the other to family, sacrifice and love. When Leni disappears without a trace, Gina returns to Mount Echo to investigate what happened, but we the public discover a much more twisted truth at the basis of the same mystery: Gina is Leni and Gina is actually missing. Since adolescence, in fact, the two have systematically exchanged their identities, living each other’s life from time to time and leaving behind unmentionable secrets. But what really happened to Gina? What is the truth behind her disappearance?
Locke & Key
Compared to the hundreds of series to which Netflix indiscriminately gives the green light, important expectations reside on Locke & Key. Disney + is here, other streaming platforms are pressing, the catalog is shrinking and the need to create new expandable universes is urgent. Bojack Horseman has closed, Stranger Things is on its way to an increasingly close ending; and it cannot be said that Ted Sarandos’ platform has created anything else equally iconic and marketable in terms of original products. Joe Hill’s series assumes this burden, and with algorithmic care aims to create the golden section of everything that worked in the fantastic cinema of mass consumption in the decade that has just ended. Important fact, this: Locke & Keyit is in fact a product for children, which sets its own standard of maturity on the youngest audience of all.
Love, Death & Robots
The series kicks off with an episode inspired by a story by Peter F. Hamilton and directed by Dave Wilson. Sonnie’s edge(Sonnie’s Edge) is the story of a woman who in the past suffered a terrible rape that almost killed her and now has decided to “take revenge” through an illegal and secret tournament in which the participants guide, through their minds, ferocious monsters. In the 17 minutes that make up the episode we see a spectacular and suggestive fight, a very sensual scene between two women and also a couple of not bad narrative twists. What is most striking is the very fluid and photorealistic animation technique, which clearly betrays the origin of the director and his Blur Studio from video games but also the special effects for cinema at the highest level, such as the space sequences of Avatar, the supervision for Avengers 2 and above all the magnificent opening credits of Millennium – The men who hate women, a film by David Fincher himself. As a first impact for the series it’s not bad at all, even if the best is yet to come!
Good Netflix series
Queen of the South

Queen of the South begins with a great assumption: Teresa Mendoza , the protagonist, is the queen of the drug market and, for this, she will be killed. Whoever exposes himself to power and wealth exposes himself to danger. The pilot immediately makes the situation clear. What we will see in the course of the series is nothing more than a memory. The viewer will watch the show with the knowledge that the protagonist has reached her peak and there, she died. At a time when TV series travel on “ spoiler alert“, it’s interesting to see a show where you know from the beginning how things are going to end. It’s interesting to know that she will get to the top of the food pyramid, that she will become the queen. It’s interesting to know that the series will end with her death. It’s interesting to try to figure out – given her almost tragic starting point – how she will manage to become the Queen of the South.
House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths

House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths, the new Netflix docuseries directed by Leena Yadav and produced by Yogendra Mogre and Katherine Leblond, is available to watch on the streaming platform from October 8, 2021. The work is divided into three parts and explores the different theories that have attempted to explain a terrible news story that took place in India, in Burari (north of Delhi) and that shook an entire nation in the summer of 2018: the discovery of eleven dead members of the three-generation family Chundawat. The director makes the viewer retrace the whole story. She pushes to examine what happened and to look with a sensitive eye at the various facets of the investigation, with the aim of finally revealing the background that has remained unexplored. She does it with the help of real characters, news images and videos, but above all with the interviews, testimonies and precious comments of police officers, neighbors, journalists, and relatives and friends of the deceased family.
Arcane: League of Legends
A tension and rivalry that is fertile ground in which to sow ideas to be developed over the nine episodes of the first season, but also characters capable of emotionally involving the viewer with their own personalities and businesses. Characters largely borrowed from the Championsof League of Legends, consolidated and already popular with the gaming public, but of immediate impact also for those who will meet them for the first time in Arcane. We think of Vi, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, who is immediately striking for her pink-haired look, but intriguing for the evolution that she seems to promise starting from her role as Zaun’s petty criminal; on the opposite side in Piltover we find another prominent figure like Jayce, voiced in the original by Kevin Alejandro, with an important role in the invention of Hextech.
The Queen’s Gambit
The story opens in 1950s America. Little Elisabeth “Beth” Harmon , an orphan who lost her mother in a car accident, is entrusted to an orphanage where she manages to cope with her pain by starting to play chess with the old and lonely caretaker of the facility: Mr William Shaibel. Soon the caretaker will realize that the little girl learns quickly until she becomes a real prodigy. At the age of 15, Elisabeth is adopted by a strange couple. Her adoptive father, who takes little interest in her, will soon leave the girl and her wife, an alcoholic with a passion for the piano. In her own way, it will be the woman who gives Beth a semblance of family, allowing her to continue to cultivate her dream. In fact, Elisabeth, helped by Mr. Shaybel himself, begins to compete in small state tournaments, coming into contact with the most brilliant chess minds such as Harry Beltik and Benny Watts.
