Eight years later, the How I Met Your Mother spin-off has become a reality. How I Met Your Father is the new TV series which, with a brand new cast, introduces a new love story, set in the present but told in the future, this time from a mother to her son. We laugh and get excited: but will it live up to the original series? Let’s find out together!

Coming to Disney + starting May 11 ” How I met your father “. It stars (and produces) Hillary Duff as Sophie, her mother who tells her son the story of how she met her father. A reversal of the original “How I met your mother” that tells the story of a group of friends in 2021. The series is written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.

How I met your father cast

In the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how he met his father. Thus we return to 2021, where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are trying to figure out who they are, what they want out of life and how to fall in love in the era of dating apps and limitless possibilities.

Hilary Duff – Sophie

Hilary Duff as Sophie, a desperately romantic photographer looking for her soulmate.

Duff took acting, singing , and dancing lessons as a child, and she grew up performing in local theater productions. After her family moved to Los Angeles in 1993, Duff began landing roles in commercials. In 1997, she had a small role in a Hallmark Amusement series called True Gals. And in 1998, she landed her first starring role in the movie Casper Fulfills Wendy.

Chris Lowell – Jesse

Chris Lowell as Jesse, an aspiring musician who works as an Uber driver and music teacher. He lives with Sid in the old apartment of Ted, Marshall and Lily.

Chris Lowell ( Veronica Mars, GLOW ) was cast in How I Met Your Dad, which received a straight-to-series order in April. Created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger ( This Is Us ), the 10-episode sequel is set in the near future, as Sophie (played by Younger ‘s Hilary Duff) tells her son – you got it. guess ! — the story of his meeting with his father. The story “catapults us into 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps. and unlimited options,” according to the official login line.

France Raisa – Valentina

France Raisa as Valentina, an impulsive stylist assistant who is also Sophie’s best friend and roommate.

Suraj Sharma – Sid

Suraj Sharma as Sid, Jesse’s best friend and roommate who owns a bar. He is engaged to his long distance girlfriend Hannah.

Tom Ainsley – Charlie

Tom Ainsley as Charlie, a British aristocrat who abandons his heritage to follow his love interest Valentina to New York after they meet at London Fashion Week.

Kim Cattrall – future Sophie

Kim Cattrall as future Sophie, who in 2050 tells her son the story of meeting his father.

Leighton Master – Meredith

Leighton Master as Meredith, Jesse’s ex-girlfriend.

Meester stars as Meredith, an ex-girlfriend of Chris Lowell’s Jesse. Blink and you’ll miss her cameo, though: she’s just in the #ProposalFail video seen in Episode 1. Jesse explains that Meredith was the only woman he ever loved and she rejected him. Now she is in Europe to record her first solo album. Does that mean Meester is gone for good?

Daniel Augustin – Ian

Josh Peck – Drew

Josh Peck as Drew, the vice principal of the school where Jesse teaches music lessons.

Peck is best known for his starring role in the Nickelodeon sitcom Drake and Josh, which ran for four seasons between 2004 and 2007 and spawned two TV movies. He is currently starring alongside a French Mastiff in the Disney+ Tourneur & Hooch reboot, which is awaiting word on a possible season 2.

Other characters

  • Ashley Reyes as Hannah, doctor and Sid’s girlfriend, whom he agrees to marry. However, due to her work, the two live in a long-distance relationship;
  • Paget Brewster as Lori, mother of Sophie;
  • Dan Bucatinsky as Dan, Valentina’s boss;
  • Kyle MacLachlan is The Captain, a character already seen in How I Met Your Mother;
  • Laura Bell Bundy is Becky, a character already seen in How I Met Your Mother;
  • Stony Blyden as Jasper, waiter at Sid’s bar.
